Mullingar Chamber Welcomes Fáilte Ireland’s Presentation on Irelands Ancient East

Mullingar Chamber held their Tourism Breakfast on Thursday April 27th in Bloomfield House Hotel with a great turnout from the Tourism and business sector in Mullingar. The focus of the event was Irelands Ancient East with a presentation from Marie McCormack, Fáilte Ireland and how you as a business owner can utilise this unique tourism directive and the tools available.

With €18m spent on this initiative in 2016 the Irelands Ancient East brand is growing. With 60 tour operators in Westmeath last year and funding for 2 events, and appearances in advertising, Westmeath is seeing the benefits of this tourism initiative.

Marie McCormack said “we must work together and use experiences and storytelling to drive your brand whether big or small.”

Fáilte Ireland have published a toolkit for tourism stakeholders and operators within the Ireland’s Ancient East region to provide guidance on what works best when attracting visitors. Ireland’s Ancient East – A Toolkit for Storytelling Interpretation seeks to assist attraction managers, tourism businesses, accommodation providers, local authorities, planners and designers to find their best stories and tell them in an engaging way for visitors.

Brigid Manley said “Bringing history alive is at the core of Ireland’s Ancient East. Mullingar while not a traditional tourism destination we have the potential to develop a unique and high quality product using the toolkit offered by Fáilte Ireland and the cooperation and collaboration of all the stakeholders in our region.”

Thanks to our breakfast sponsors, Red Earth, Mindy Brownes and Genesis.
