St. Patricks Day Parade

Mullingar St. Patricks Day Parade 2011

The Mullingar St Patricks Day Parade 2010 was a resounding success again last year with over 33,000 people walking the streets of our town and the committee has reformed and is already working to ensure 2011 is an even better event. On St. Patricks Day we celebrate what we are as a community, it’s just one day a year but our aim is to produce an even more spectacular event on 17th March 2011 and attract an even greater number of people onto our streets. The increasing public presence in previous years and the highly positive feedback was due in no small way to the generous financial support.

For this very reason our voluntary committee (from all sectors of business and community) has come together once again, and are putting comprehensive plans in place to give Mullingar a parade that we will be proud of. A special event for the day is planned designed to draw the crowds onto the streets. It will celebrate the creative arts, cultural, colourful and musical participants together with business and community groups working together as well as state and semi-state organisations all celebrate together. For far too many years the people left Mullingar to view parades in other towns…..That day is over. We are now the attraction, we are the town people want to visit, we draw in the crowds with a parade and events that are a delight to both eyes and ears of all age groups.

We, the committee, are enthused, effective and efficient and are on course again to deliver a parade that we can all be proud of. The jigsaw is coming together but we need your help to fill in the remaining missing piece…. funding. This event cannot happen without finance. Previous parades have incurred expenditure in the region of €40,000 and this year will be no different. The ancillary artists, clowns, entertainers etc all put a large hole in the budget, but they have been the makings of the parade every year. This year we need your help more than ever.

We need to get funding commitment – to allow us book performers early (some are booked a full year in advance).

I am asking for your generous support once again this year, without your support we simply can not put on a parade. We very much welcome all sponsorship and would in particular welcome your early commitment to allow us include this as part of our budgeting process.

Whatever you decide, it will be very much appreciated.

Below are specific types of sponsorships (you could pick one of these or decide your own level of support.)

Gold Sponsor : €750+

Silver Sponsor: €500+

Patrons :€200+

Friend: €25+

All sponsorships will be acknowledged and included in the publicly displayed sponsors list, on our website www.mullingarparade.ieand our facebook page.

Amounts of €250 will include invites to the Prize Giving Ceremony including photo opportunities. Amounts of €750 will include all the above, a full year family pass to Belvedere House and Gardens and an invitation to the pre-parade reception.

More than any of the above we are asking you once again to become a main driver, affording a fantastic opportunity for business and community to celebrate Mullingar in a befitting manner, on our one unique day in the year.

I look forward to receiving your unique support for Mullingar’s day of Celebration. Tempus fugit – Time flies – we ask you to act now. To move forward with our plans we need your commitment now!

Go raibh míle maith agat.

Yours sincerely

Enda Geoghegan
