Fiver Friday

Friday 1st July is Fiver Friday and RTÉ Radio 1’s Liveline together with Mullingar Retailers and Mullingar Chamber of Commerce is asking everyone to spend an extra €5 with a local business or retailer.

Fiver Friday is a great and simple idea generated by the RTE Joe Duffy Liveline listeners for neighbour to help neighbour and to support the local community.Fiver Friday is one way to boost the local economy and community.

Fiver Friday 1st July coincides with the reduction in Value Added Tax from 13.5% to 9% in respect of certain goods and services including restaurant and catering services, hotel accommodation, hairdressing services and newspapers

Shop’s in Mullingar, from drapers and shoe shops to chemists and toy shops, from jewellers and hairdressers to cafes and restaurants have pledged to offerFiver Friday Specials in the hope that enabling consumers to spend that little bit extra will help to keep local businesses afloat and keep people in their neighbourhoods working.

Every participating retailer will be displaying the Fiver Friday poster on their premises.
