Mullingar Chamber Welcomes New President

At the recent Mullingar Chamber Annual General Meeting, Mr. Pat Whelan was announced as Chamber President. The chain of office was passed over to him from out going president Ms. Julie Magan, who served two terms as president. For those who do not know Pat, below are a few brief lines about him:

  • Pat is an accountant in private practice for over 30 years. An affiliated member of the Association of International Accountants and member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
  • A member of the Life Assurance Association of Ireland and a registered Financial Service Provider with the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Appointed a Peace Commissioner by the Minister for Justice and Equality in 2007.
  • A member of Mullingar Town Commissioners 1994/1999 and Mullingar Town Council 2002/2009.
  • Cathaoirleach of Mullingar Town Council in 2006/07 and Leas-Cathaoirleach in 2008/2009.
  • Former member of Westmeath County Council Mullingar Area Committee 2006/2007, Chairman of Westmeath County Development Board (SIM) Working Group 2002/2004 and Westmeath County Council Transportation and Infrastructure SPC.
  • Founder in 2003 of the Mullingar Health Services Action Group “Save Our Hospital” Committee and member of National Steering Committee of Hospital Action Groups.
  • Former lecturer in taxation for the Accounting Technicians of Ireland and tutor of book-keeping, taxation and business organisation for private secretarial college.
