Mullingar Chamber to Chair Town Hall Meeting

Mullingar Chamber of Commerce has planned a Town Hall Meeting for Monday the 15th of August. This meeting is open to everyone, members and non members alike. Community, voluntary, charity and sporting groups as well as any individuals worried about the future of the town are also invited to come along to voice their concerns. The meeting will take place in the Parish Community Centre on Bishopsgate Street from 7.30pm.

The chamber recognise that businesses in the town are under increasing pressure because of the ongoing financial crisis and they want to meet business owners to get their views on what the main issues affecting them are and how the chamber can help.

Pat Whelan president of the chamber will chair the meeting and said, “We know from speaking to business people around the town that their footfall is down, revenue is down and all the while their rent, rates, insurance and other costs remain the same or are increasing. They just cannot take any more.

We want to hear from the people affected, it will be an open forum to voice concerns, raise issues and suggest ideas. We will take an agenda from the meeting and look at whether we need to lobby local government, take things to a national level and also see what can be done collectively as a town. ”

If you wish to attend please email marketing@mullingarchamber.ie or call 044 9344044 to confirm.
