Celebrating Successful Business at the MidlandsIreland.ie Best in Business Awards 2013

The MidlandsIreland.ie Best in Business Awards were held in The Tullamore Court Hotel on Friday evening last 28th June 2013.  Guests were welcomed by a drinks reception, sponsored by Tullamore Dew which gave business people from across the Midlands an excellent Networking opportunity.

Mr. John Humphries, President Midlands Gateway Chamber welcomed everyone to this, the third annual awards.  ‘Let’s be honest about it, business in today’s environment is tough. Taking the decision to start up a business is one of the hardest choices a person can make; it takes a certain type of person to take that initial leap of faith to start a business, for someone to be successful in that venture is a completely different story and encompasses personal qualities only those in business and their families can understand’ before quoting a famous quote “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary”

Positive Croke Park Report Provides Impetus for Further Reform

Chambers Ireland has today (03/07/13) said that the positive Croke Park report was a necessary requirement in getting the economy back on a sustainable footing and the Government must continue to secure the reforms needed to reduce costs and enhance flexibility.

Speaking this afternoon, Seán Murphy, Chambers Ireland Deputy Chief Executive, said “This is a broadly positive report. The savings of €1.8 billion made since the Public Service Reform Plan was launched in 2010 are significant. However, the priorities for this Government remain the same: how can borrowing be reduced; how can the deficit be cut; and how can the country’s finances be returned to a sustainable footing?”

“It is essential that the Government reaffirms its commitment to the principles of the Croke Park Agreement as we move into the new structures introduced by the Haddington Road Agreement. As with all businesses facing cost inflation, increased efficencies and productivity are an essential component to securing cost effective front line services. We are still borrowing over €1 billion per month and this number has to fall further as fast as possible. A flexible public sector continuing to reform will play an ever more important role in delivering on this target,” he concluded.

ELEGANCE IS THE THEME AT KILBEGGAN RACES

Dundrum Town Centre & Wineport Lodge Sponsor the Best Dressed Lady at the Gigginstown House Midlands National.

The Gigginstown Midlands National Day at Kilbeggan Races on Friday July 19th is set to be the most fashionable event in the midlands this year. Dundrum Town Centre and Wineport Lodge in Glasson are sponsoring the ‘Best Dressed Lady ’ at the event and will present the winner with a prize worth in excess of €2,000.
The wonderful & glamorous Audrey Hepburn once said “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades”. If what is important in a dress is the woman who wears it, then the winner of this year’s Best Dressed Lady Competition will be a very important person. The prize worth €2,000 includes a €1,000 shopping spree at Dundrum Town Centre, a Woman of Style Weekend at Wineport Lodge. The Woman of Style Weekend will include a weekend stay in the Captain’s Suite with champagne dinner, lunch in the Taittinger Bar followed by a culinary class, powerboat trip to Athlone, Tasting Menu in the celebrated restaurant and top to toe spa treatments.

The Gigginstown Midlands National Day will kick off at 5pm with the first race at 5.55 pm. Finalists for the Best Dressed will be selected through the event with finalists enjoying a champagne reception at the Dundrum Town Centre / Wineport Lodge marquee before the winner is announced and presented after the last race. The feature race is The Gigginstown House Midlands National with a prize of €50,000.

Ladies Day at Kilbeggan has become the social event of the year in the Midlands with a full evening of entertainment for all the family including live music, children’s entertainment as well as the glamour of the Best Dressed and of course the excitement and spectacle of the featured Midlands National.
