Chamber Week Kicks Off

Chamber Week 2013

Week of Nationwide Business Events Begins

Chamber Week has commenced. Chambers  from across the country are currently running events showcasing the benefit of joining a network of businesses with over 650,000 employees, who receive over €22 billion in salaries annually. Running until Friday 20th September, events include seminars, site visits and expos showing how new members can find new customers, access better training opportunities and work to improve their local business environment and how Chambers support business locally, regionally and nationally.

Chambers Ireland Chief Executive Ian Talbot said, “Chamber Week is the perfect way for businesses and their staff to see what their local Chamber can do for them. There are great events running all over Ireland allowing people to get a taste of the benefits of membership before joining. Member businesses are succeeding because they sell to each other, use training to up skill and become more productive and lobby to develop more successful, thriving local communities and business environments.”

“Being involved with a local Chamber can make a real difference to a business. As part of the Chamber Network, members have opportunities to become part of a local and national lobbying voice and get vital support when needed. Can a business afford not to be part of it?” Talbot concluded.

Garda Chamber Cup Golf Classic

The Mullingar Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic is fast becoming one of the most popular four ball golf classics in the Midland region. This year’s event brought together over 100 players at Mullingar Golf Club’s pristine course on what were magnificent golfing conditions. This annual Golf Classic opened Mullingar’s, Chamber-Week celebrations and will know doubt be one of Mullingar Chamber’s biggest events of the week.

The Garda Chamber Cup Golf Classic 2013 turned out to be a fiercely competitive event with three of the twenty eight teams competing finishing on equal points. In the end, 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams could only be separated by their back nine scores.

Maguire Hair Supplies turned out to be the eventual winners with Imperial Tobacco and Midas Technologies finishing second and third respectively.

Chamber President Pat Whelan said that the day’s golf “was the perfect opportunity for business people to relax and also to establish new contacts within the business community. The Chamber is already planning and looking forward to the Garda Chamber Golf Classic 2014 which will be a great way to start the 4th Annual Chamber Week ”.
