This years National Heritage week will begin on Saturday the 23rd August until Sunday 31st August. The aim of the National Heritage Week is to build awareness and education about our heritage thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation.
In Westmeath their is many events taking places such as
- Historical Walks and Guided Tour of St Feichin’s Church of Fore Abbey.
- Photography Exhibit of Big Houses in Mullingar and Environs in the Mullingar Library.
- Tours of Castles, Houses and Gardens at Belvedere House & Tullynally Castle.
- Tour of the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar and many more local Churches such as St. Etchens, Killucan, Church of St. Bigseach, Kilbixy.
- Learning about ‘Wetlands Wildflowers’ is taking place in Dun Na Si in Moate.
