My career background is in Training, both in business and education and Sales and Marketing mainly in the hospitality sector.

I found myself between jobs about 6 months ago and I was made aware of the Jobnet Programme in Athlone through a friend. I was interested in the programme because it was aimed at professionals and graduates and I immediately applied and was successful in securing a place on the course.

The format at each session was practical workshops in a professional environment with interaction between participants, facilitators and presenters. Expert and relevant advice was provided at each session so participants could get to work on finding a job from day one.

I found the programme to be a very worthwhile exercise where I learned current strategies to gain employment. I discovered that looking for work is a job in itself and you have to put time and effort into it.

Guest speakers covered topics from

  • Creating an effective CV
  • The importance of the cover letter
  • Personal Branding/Profile
  • Networking and the advantages of a Linkedin A/C
  • Interview Techniques
  • Mock Interviews

The programme was really a confidence building process, encouraging participants to focus on their achievements and prioritise their needs in seeking employment.

Overall it was a great personal development experience with valuable learning from facilitators and presenters, and the talent and skills the participants themselves brought to the programme.

I found it to be a very beneficial programme, and I am a success story from the Athlone Jobnet. I met Geraldine Stewart through the programme when she presented to the group on Personal Branding. Geraldine subsequently offered me a full time role as Business Development Manager at The Business Clinic in Longford. Geraldine is an Executive Coach and founder of The Business Clinic, and runs master classes and bespoke coaching solutions for companies. The Business Clinic also provides Training and Meeting Room Facilities and Executive Accommodation for short term self catering rentals.
