Chamber Showcases Mullingar As Perfect For Business And Industry


Mullingar Chamber of Commerce are celebrating this week with the success of the Midlands Industrial Expo and the news that the event will return in 2016.

“Before the end of the day,  exhibitors were already booking their slot for next year. It was just a wonderful end to what was a successful day showcasing the Life Sciences and Engineering sectors of our existing Industry businesses here in Mullingar and the Midlands,” explained Angela Daly, Mullingar Chamber of Commerce.

Mullingar Chamber of Commerce and  Westmeath County Council organised the Midlands Industrial Expo Event, which took place on Thursday 18th June in the Mullingar Park Hotel. The initiative was supported by Enterprise Ireland and the IDA, Its focus was to create a forum for midlands based SME Companies to meet with the key decision makers and buyers of large multinational and indigenous companies. It was also hoped that the day would be the first step in encouraging local sourcing and stimulating growth in the midlands region.

“Mullingar is a great place to do business, its proximity to Dublin and the excellent road network that links it to every part of the country makes it an ideal place for industry. This event was a showcase to highlight Mullingar and the Midlands as a place to do business,” explained Tom Hyland, Chamber executive and Expo MC, “our hope is that the day will be the first step in encouraging local sourcing among our business community and stimulating growth in the midlands region.


Exhibitors at the Expo!

The Expo contained 85 Exhibitors from the Life Sciences and Engineering sectors showcased their work and their companies at the first Midlands Industrial Expo in the Mullingar park Hotel. These included well known firms from this area including Fagan Print and Design, Gannon Exco, AIB, Gaybrook Engineering, Mergon, Midlands Industrial Maintenance, Modern Labelling and Printing Systems, ORS, PEM Automation Limited, Robotic Drive Services, SteriPack, StrikeBox engineering TEG, Trend and VHI. There were also Industry seminars and workshops throughout the day and a networking Barbecue that evening.

“The Expo showcases the Midlands as a place to do business and this sector is an area the Chamber is keen to attract. This event was a business to business event, and the 300 visitors to the Expo were all industry.  Enterprise Ireland was present on the day was the expertise of the Local Enterprise Office and representation from IDA Ireland.

“This event showed the work that is being done here and the potential for growth of existing business and the services in place to attract new business and incubate start ups. It also highlights Mullingar as a place to do business and host high profile showcase events,” explained Tom,

“The networking barbecue was also a success. It was a friendly atmosphere and it is this type of event that introduces people to each other, where they can explore how beneficial working as a business community can be for everyone. These are foundations that great business to business relationships are built on.”
