Whelehans Pharmacy – Osteoarthritis Event

The severity of osteoarthritis amongst sufferers goes from from mild pain, to something chronic and debilitating. Osteoarthritis is the “wear and tear” form of arthritis. It usually affects those over 50, but can affect anyone at any time, including teenagers. Symptoms include joint pain and stiffness, developing until the pain can only be relieved by rest. Ultimately, joints can become so unstable that they need replaced, which is most common for the knee and hip.

If you live with Osteoarthritis, education is the best way to help yourself. Learning how things like lifestyle and diet changes can make a difference every day.

In addition, learning some simple pain management techniques can complement the effectiveness of any medication you might be taking. Perhaps you are deciding if surgery such as a hip or knee replacement is the best option for you. Like any condition, the more informed a person is about their condition, the better able they will be to take control of their condition.
