We are delighted to announce that the winner of this year’s Best Shop Front Competition is Fagans.

Fagans Mullingar

The Best Shop Front Christmas Competition was run by the Mullingar Chamber in conjunction with Mullingar Tidy Town.

The judging comprised of Cllr. John Shaw WCC Cathaoirleach, Jean Brennan of Mullingar Chamber & Bill Collentine of Mullingar Tidy Town.

The categories that each shop that entered were judged on were:

  • Signage Design.
  • Well presented window display.
  • Consideration of Christmas Decorations – based on illumination and in the spirit of Christmas.
  • Inviting clean & attractive entrance.
  • Demonstration of collaborative work to improve the business environment, environmental initiatives, planting community involvement etc.
  • Public Domain – improving the appearance of the public area surrounding the business footpaths and associated street furniture.

Fagans scored the highest overall, as you can see the shop front looks fantastic. Fagans gave full credit to their staff, Breda Ballesty, Amy Ballesty, Shauna Dillion, Carol Glennon who spent four

Donated by

days creating the amazing window display making many items by hand and included items such as Shauna’s Grandad’s handmade chair from her childhood.

We had a good number of applications for the competition. The standard was extremely high and a lot of the shop fronts were highly commended, such as Galvin’s Menswear, St. Vincent de Paul & Swarbrigg Shoes.

Well done to everyone who entered, we think they all did a fantastic job and are a credit to Mullingar Businesses and the community.

We would like to thank Flagship Sign Design, who kindly donated the plaque.
