Mullingar Chamber & Intertrade Ireland Brexit Briefing Event

Brexit Breakfast Briefing

The Mullingar Chamber in association with Intertrade Ireland held an informative Brexit breakfast briefing in the Annebrook Hotel on April 24th. There was a fantastic attendance from local and regional businesses.

During the breakfast Mark Sterritt, Intertrade Ireland Brexit Advisory Manager explained that “Today’s Brexit is different to tomorrow’s and next week and that businesses need to prepare and identify possible risks and plan ahead” Guests heard from John Madigan, Head of Marketing and Research at the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland who proposed that all businesses should review their supply chain and prepare for any risks they could encounter. It was also great to hear of how a Midlands company have put plans in place to safeguard their future. Claire Nugent, Head of Purchasing at Dromone Engineering Ltd noted that “it’s the unknown that is the biggest challenge of Brexit is the uncertainty that businesses face and that strong supplier relationship will be key”. One of the key learnings from the briefing is that there are supports available to ensure businesses are prepared for any risks that they will face as a result of Brexit. Tom Hyland, President of Mullingar Chamber noted: “We are delighted to work in association with InterTrade Ireland to help businesses navigate Brexit. Despite the uncertainty, one thing that is clear is the need to consider all options and be prepared to act, and the Chamber will continue to work to assist businesses in preparing for any challenges.”
