What is Champion Green?
Champion Green is a campaign by government, business, and the public, to inspire people to support local, to do business locally, and to source local products and services; in-person and online.
It is the biggest support local movement in a generation, developed to help our towns and cities recover and remain vibrant for future generations.
The aim is to reconnect people with the idea that supporting local is best as it benefits their town and community, now and into the future. Ireland’s SMEs employ 65% of people in Ireland and every €1 spent with a local business gives back €2.50 to your local community. Therefore, every time someone champions green, it helps to create jobs, helps Irish families, and puts money back into our own communities.
Champion Green is supported by Kilkenny Group and Visa, in association with Small Firms Association, Retail Excellence, Chambers Ireland, AIB Merchant Services, and Maxol.
2022 Theme
This week, Champion Green launched a new campaign for 2022 to help change consumer behaviour and get people back out supporting local businesses. The theme is ‘Let’s Champion Green and Together We Rise’.

A new suite of Champion Green POS and creative assets is now available on championgreen.ie. Businesses can use the assets across your channels to drive awareness of the support local message. Visa She’s Next Grant Programme
Champion Green partner Visa Ireland, in collaboration with IFundWomen, is offering 5 Irish small businesses, led by women, the opportunity to secure €10,000 grants and one year’s business coaching. It’s all part of their She’s Next Grant Programme. It supports women to fund, run and grow their small businesses by giving them the tools, resources, insights and funding to help them make their next move.
