The picturesque Mullingar Golf Club provided the perfect backdrop for the highly anticipated Mullingar Chamber Garda Cup Golf Classic 2023, held on Friday, June 26th. Smiddy’s Bar, the celebrated local establishment renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and rooftop bar, emerged as the triumphant team in a tournament that showcased exceptional golfing skills and a great spirit of camaraderie among the 22 participating teams.
The Mullingar Chamber Garda Cup Golf Classic is an annual event that brings together golf enthusiasts and local businesses, promoting unity and friendly competition within the business community. This year’s edition drew a highly competitive field of players from across the country, each vying for the prestigious trophy. Smiddy’s Bar distinguished themselves with an exceptional performance that surpassed their rivals, displaying remarkable skill and teamwork throughout the tournament.
Under the leadership of Captain Kieran Smith, Smiddy’s Bar assembled a formidable team consisting of Niall Conroy, Adam Smith, and Derek Ruane. Their combined talent and unwavering dedication contributed significantly to the team’s outstanding success.
The Mullingar Chamber Garda Cup Golf Classic stands as a testament to the strong bonds forged within the Mullingar business community. Speakers, including John Geoghegan, a member of the Board of Directors at Mullingar Chamber, Brian Stones, Community Garda Sergeant in Mullingar, and Des Maguire, delivered speeches emphasising the importance of such events in promoting unity and collaboration among businesses.
The award presentation ceremony was a highlight of the evening, with presentations from Anne Marie Hannon from sponsor Blackhall Financial Services, John O’Connell from sponsor Stephens Cooke & Associates, and Allyson English, President of Mullingar Chamber.
