The Mullingar Chamber Garda Cup Golf Classic, held last Friday at the prestigious Mullingar Golf Club, celebrated another year of exciting competition and camaraderie. Smiddy’s Bar emerged victorious once again, retaining the coveted Garda Cup for another year. Under Captain Kieran Smith’s leadership, Smiddy’s Bar formed an impressive team with Niall Conroy, Aaron Smith, and Derek Ruane.
Hot on their heels, the Mullingar Garda Station team claimed a commendable second place. The team, consisting of Brian Stones, Shane Kelly, Matthew Maslin, and Sean Bohan, showcased remarkable prowess on the greens. Coming in third were King Auctioneers, with team members Eddie King, T. Dowd, R. Dunne, and L. Murtagh, rounding out the top positions with impressive performances.
The award presentation ceremony was a highlight of the evening, featuring presentations by Superintendent of Westmeath Community Engagement Blaithin Moran. The event provided a perfect blend of sportsmanship and celebration, as participants and guests gathered to honour the outstanding performances of all teams.
Special accolades were awarded to Paula Davitt for winning the Longest Drive competition and to John Plunkett for securing the Nearest the Pin, adding extra excitement to the day’s proceedings.
