What is the Workplace Relations Commission?

The Workplace Relations Commission aims to promote harmonious workplaces by delivering a workplace relations service which is simple to use, independent, effective, impartial, cost effective and provides for a workable means of redress and enforcement, within a reasonable period of time.

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has responsibility for:

promoting the improvement of workplace relations, and maintenance of good workplace relations,
promoting and encouraging compliance with relevant enactments,
providing guidance in relation to compliance with codes of practice approved under Section 20 of the Workplace Relations Act 2015,
conducting reviews of, and monitor developments as respects, workplace relations,
conducting or commissioning research into matters pertaining to workplace relations,
providing advice, information and the findings of research conducted by the Commission to joint labour committees and joint industrial councils,
advising and apprising the Minister in relation to the application of, and compliance with, relevant enactments, and
providing information to members of the public in relation to employment
Course will be presented by:

Michael Ivory – Inspector with WRC

Michael is responsible for ascertaining levels of compliance with employment legislation among employers during announced and unannounced calls. As an inspector he promotes and enhances awareness of employment, equality and employment permit legislation.

Anne Byrne – WRC Information Officer

Provides information relating to employment rights, equality and employment permits via a dedicated call-centre, and through various publications and presentations. Processes complaint applications received.

2. Digital Marketing Programme

This course covers two big topics – website marketing and social media marketing.

In weeks 1-2 we focus on website marketing and look at how to plan and brief a website, how to drive traffic to your site from Google (SEO) and how to turn the traffic into more web enquiries and sales.

In weeks 3-6 we focus on social media marketing including, how to make your own marketing videos, how to design eye-catching images, How to use your Facebook business page for marketing, how to use Instagram for marketing, TikTok to market your products/services and an introduction to Chat GPT for digital marketing.  

Who is this suitable for?

  • Someone thinking of setting up a new business or creating a new website.
  • Owners of established businesses who want to understand how to grow their online presence and sales.
  • Those involved in marketing a business and who want to improve their digital marketing Skills.
  • This programme is not for digital marketing trainers/consultants or website designer

Lots of people attend an individual course on SEO or Facebook but then struggle to see how it all fits together. This course is designed to give you a comprehensive overview of digital marketing – it explains the major strands in detail and explains how they all fit together.

The course is pitched at beginner to intermediate level.

Course Methodology

Each workshop is a 3-hour LIVE online session which you can attend from your home or office using a PC / MAC / Smartphone or tablet(you will need to be able to hear sound either through speakers or headphones but you do not need a webcam).  Please note that the larger the screen you use the better the experience will be.

  • Define time management – what does it mean to me & my organisation.
  • Eisenhower grid (understanding the difference between urgent and important / priority & other people’s priorities)
  • Setting goals / organise yourself for peak productivity and planning to achieve your objectives.
  • Advantages and disadvantages of multitasking
  • Dealing with stress (stress and time management are closely linked)
  • Dealing with self & dealing with other for optimum performance

The above include personal tips & techniques & strategies for assist you as a business owner.

This workshop has a participants working handbook sent in advance. All PowerPoint slides and reference materials are sent after each presentation modules.

During the workshop itself the participants will become familiar with information websites that the tutor selects that will assist them.

As Maeve Finch is involved in the time management area on a regular basis, other books, journals, and papers are referred to. Along with up to date thinking such as the Business Model Canvas etc.

Video / other multimedia is used during presentation and these links are made available to the participants.
